Embark on an exciting 12-days/ 11-nights EASTER HOLIDAY tour in Poland with Anna and Mark Hurning, who will accompany you on all of your planned excursions and meals, and experience the season from Palm Sunday to Wet Monday or Smigus Dyngus! Along the way you'll be crafting, sampling,  cooking and baking Easter and local delicacies, exploring Poland's vibrant culture and taking in stunning landscapes as you travel from Krakow to Zakopane and Warsaw. Explore the historic city of Krakow, seeing the Old Town, Main Market  Square, Wawel Castle and Cathedral, and the fresh food market of Stary Kleparz. Finally, take a tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 (Fri. 3/27): Guided Krakow City Tour, Easter Eggs Decorating Workshop & Welcome Dinner
Location: Krakow, Poland
Accommodations: Golden Queen Hotel

After breakfast in our hotel, we set off to explore Krakow, the capital of Lesser Poland on a guided, walking tour of the historic city. Being one of the few Polish cities that survived World War II, Krakow is full of preserved medieval architecture. On the tour, we visit the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the largest medieval town square in Europe, Market Square. We also visit the magnificent 14th-century Wawel Castle and Cathedral. After the Krakow city tour and lunch, we'll head to a fun Easter eggs decorating class. This evening, we'll gather for a festive Welcome Dinner at Wesele Restaurant, located in the heart of Krakow's Market Square and savor old Polish and Krakow delicacies and specialties.

             

Day 2 (Sat. 3/28): Stary Kleparz & Wieliczka Salt Mine Tour
Location: Krakow, Poland
Accommodations: Golden Queen Hotel 

After a delicious breakfast, we'll make stops at the centuries-old Krakow tradition, Stary Kleparz fresh food market! Here, locals and visitors shop for the freshest Polish food products, including breads, cheeses, meats, fruits, and vegetables! Then, we'll take a tour of the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site full of galleries, lakes, chapels, and murals - all carved from salt! After the Salt Mine tour, you'll have free time to explore the sights and shops of Krakow on your own. The Easter Market and Cloth Hall on Krakow’s Market Square offer quality Polish folk handicrafts. For dinner on your own, we recommend Biala Roza restaurant nearby our hotel, which specializes in traditional Krakow cuisine. The restaurant is run by Chef Lukasz Cichy, who creates modern arrangements of flavors of the past using top quality regional products.


Day 3 (Sun. 3/29): PALM SUNDAY - Tall Palms at Lipnica Murowna
Location: Krakow, Poland
Accommodations: Golden Queen Hotel 

We'll be meeting early in the lobby of our hotel in Krakow this morning and take a drive to Lipnica Murowana to enjoy the beautiful, hand-made tall  palms in the village that is famous for displaying these during Palm Sunday. Lipnica also is on the UNESCO Wooden Churches Route of Malopolska with it’s wooden, XV century St. Leonard Church. It is one of the oldest and most treasured churches in Poland! After the Palm Sunday service, we'll make a stop for a delicious lunch in the area. After returning to Krakow, take a leisurely walk to the Easter Market or simply enjoy the relaxation at our comfortable hotel! We’ll be heading out to Zakopane in the morning and overnight there for several days. 

Day 4 (Mon. 3/30): Tour Zakopane, Stroll Krupowki Street & Gubalowka 
Location: Transfer from Krakow to Zakopane, Poland
Accommodations: Nosalowy Park Hotel & Spa

After breakfast, we embark on a unique cooking experience in one of the highlander villages in the Podhale region, preparing typical Easter dishes and some regional specialties. In the afternoon, we take a tour of the beautiful mountain town of Zakopane. Taking a leisurely stroll along the famous Krupowki Street, we admire the surrounding views of the Tatra Mountains and other mountain ranges. We then take a funicular or a chair ski lift up Gubalowka Mountain* to get the best panoramic view of Zakopane. To round off the day, we recommend dinner on your own at Restaurant Sabala on Zakopane’s main Krupowki Street, where you can savor delicious regional Polish food, drink and music while watching the world go by from the cozy terrace.

Important note: *Funicular or chair lift to Gubalowka Mountain is subject to confirmation once in Zakopane and depends on the weather and technical condition of the equipment.

Day 5 (Tue. 3/31): Czerwony Dwor in Zakopane & St. Michael Archangel's Wooden Church
Location: Zakopane, Poland
Accommodations: Nosalowy Park Hotel & Spa 

This morning, we're off to Czerwony Dwor, Zakopane’s Cultural Center to view and shop authentic handicrafts made by local artists. Next, we'll drive to see Jaszczurowka Chapel and the spectacular timber church in Debno Podhalanskie village, where we can admire stunning paintings, sculptures and other carvings from the 15th and 16th centuries. This remarkable church is listed on UNESCO's World Heritage sites! In the afternoon, you'll have some free time to explore Zakopane, shop for local handicrafts, pamper yourself with spa treatments at our hotel, or take a leisurely stroll down Krupowki street. For dinner on your own, we recommend the Mala Szwajcaria restaurant in Zakopane - a favorite among locals and tourists, for its delicious Polish and European dishes.

Day 6 (Wed. 4/1): Bukowina Cultural Center & Legendary Chocholow Woodcarver 
Location: Zakopane, Poland
Accommodations: Nosalowy Park Hotel & Spa

Today we take a journey to the charming highland town of Bukowina Tatrzanska! We’ll be making traditional Easter palms out of colored paper at the local Cultural Center. After class, we enjoy a delicious lunch at Schronisko Bukowina Restaurant and shop for some local specialties at their store. On our way back to Zakopane, we will be making short stops at Bacowka,a small mountain hut, where the locals make the famous smoked sheep cheese “oscypek” in a traditional way, wooden churches and the villages of Chocholow and Witow, both on the UNESCO Lesser Poland Timber Architecture Route. In Chocholow, we will have the chance to visit the art studio of Jan Ziender, a local wood carver and artist. Here you can purchase one of his unique, hand-made carvings! To finish off our stay in the highlander country of Podhale, we'll dine at Karczma Przy Mlynie restaurant in Zakopane, where we'll enjoy regional and Polish specialties.  

Day 7 (Thur. 4/2): Travel Day To Warsaw, the Capital of Poland in Mazovia
Location: Transfer from Zakopane to Warsaw, Poland 
Accommodations: Polonia Palace Hotel

On our five hour drive from Zakopane to Warsaw today, we'll be making rest stops along the way and also make a stop for a delicious lunch about half way to Warsaw.  

Day 8 (Fri. 4/3): Guided Warsaw City Tour: History, Culture and Cuisine
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Accommodations: Polonia Palace Hotel

Come explore the vibrant city of Warsaw with us and get a real taste of its history, culture, and cuisine! We'll take you on a sightseeing and tasting tour of the city's hottest spots. From the fresh food market of Hala Mirowska to Hala Koszyki and Fabryka Norblina shopping and dining complexes, you'll get to try some of the best Polish dishes and local specialties. And of course, no trip to Warsaw is complete without trying some (maybe not all) of the city's classic desserts like paczki, Wuzetka and Zygmuntowka from iconic bakeries like Blikle and/or Rozdroze, Pawlowicz and Teledzinscy and the Wedel Chocolate Lounges to taste their delicious drinking chocolate. Get ready for a truly unforgettable cultural and culinary journey around Warsaw! The rest of the evening and dinner on your own. We recommend Stary Dom restaurant offering traditional Polish cuisine at its best. This restaurant is famous for serving the best steak tartare and desserts and is frequently visited by Polish celebrities.

Day 9 (Sat. 4/4): Easter Baking Class & Easter Baskets Blessing 

Location: Warsaw, Poland

This Saturday, we'll be baking Easter specialties with Ania and Marysia, who owns the culinary studio in Warsaw! From Babkas to Mazurki and more, this for sure is going to be a fun and sweet class! Ania and Marysia will also show us how to prepare an Easter basket or SWIECONKA in Polish, since it's a tradition in Poland to have Easer baskets full of delicious foods be blessed by a priest and to share with family and friends on Easter Sunday. In the afternoon we'll have a chance to visit a local Warsaw church to experience Easter baskets blessing. The rest of the afternoon and evening is on your own to relax in our hotel or dine or shop on the town. 

 


Day 10 (Sun. 4/5): EASTER SUNDAY Mass and Brunch - Royal Baths Park
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Accommodations: Polonia Palace Hotel

On Easter Sunday, we’ll be dining at Rozana restaurant, a Michelin recommended Polish restaurant, located in a two floor pre-war villa. Here, we’ll enjoy delicious Easter meal with a wide offering of exquisite desserts. Happy Easter! Wesolych Swiat Wielkanocnych!  After Easter brunch, we’ll visit the 17th century baroque Royal Baths Park or Lazienki Park in Warsaw. This majestic park was built for Prince Stanislaw Herakliusz Lubomirski and features scenic gondola rides and Chopin concerts during the summer months. 



Day 11 (Mon. 4/6): SMIGUS DYNGUS & UW Library Rooftop Garden & Warsaw Uprising Museum
Location: Warsaw, Poland 
Accommodations: Polonia Palace Hotel

In the morning, we'll get to tour and enjoy an impressive view of Warsaw from the top of the Warsaw University Library Rooftop Garden, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. In the afternoon, we tour the Warsaw Uprising Museum. The museum is one of the most visited places in Warsaw and was opened on 60th anniversary of the outbreak of fighting in the city and a tribute to Warsaw’s residents who fought and died in the fight in 1944. Enjoy the rest of the day and evening in the city on your own, in the many of its world-class spas or city outdoor areas and parks. Lastly, we'll end the evening and our Eastern adventure in Poland with Farewell Dinner at a Michelin guide-recommended restaurant, Ale Gloria, specializing in Polish cuisine. Smacznego!

Day 12 (Tue. 4/7): Departure For Home

After breakfast, make your way back home or if you'd like to, stay longer in Poland's lively capital city!
