2025 Tour of Greater Poland and Poznan

Welcome to the Culinary and Cultural Tour of Greater Poland and Poznan! On this once-in-a-lifetime journey, you will experience the very best of this beautiful region.

Our tour will begin in Poznan, where you will explore the Old Market Square, including the Poznan Cathedral and the Old Market Square. Then, we will make a stop in Pyzdry village to sample some of the local orchards' fresh fruit.

Next, we will head to Witaszyce Palace for a cooking class, where you will learn the secrets of making delicious local dishes like roast duck with red cabbage and yeast dumplings. Then, you will have the unique opportunity to see a special performance by the folk group “Snutki”. After that, we will take a private tour of the Witaszyce Palace Hotel.

Our next stop will be Pleszew, where we will explore the Bakery Museum. Then, we will visit the artisan Teso Fruit Juice Press Company for a private tasting.

Next, we will tour Gniezno, the first capital of Poland. Here, you will explore the Gniezno Cathedral, Gniezno Old Market Square, and the Kazimierzowska Tower. We will also visit the beautiful Wargowo village and its agrotourism farm, Gryszczeniówka.

We will then have the unique opportunity to participate in an Ostrzeszów cooking class, where we get to prepare the famous local dish 'Gesi Pipek'. After that, we will visit the Olandia open-air museum and take a trip to the Winarium, which has over 80 different wines from around the world.

Finally, we will explore Old Poznan and the Museum of the Struggle for Independence. We will also visit the Croissant Museum and tour the Emperor's Castle.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Tour of Poznan
Location: Tłokinia Kościelna, Poland
Accommodations: Tłokinia Palace
We're gathering in Poznan to explore all the city's wonders and beyond! We'll be meeting at a hotel near the Old Market Square at 10:00 a.m. where we'll be joined by our local guide for a tour of the city, including the Poznan Cathedral and the Old Market Square. After lunch, we'll embark on a scenic drive to our home for the next three days, Tlokinia Palace, located in the gorgeous Greater Poland countryside. On the way, we'll stop in Pyzdry village to sample some of the local orchards' fresh fruit and learn about the German-Russian borders that once divided Poland. Finally, we'll settle into Tlokinia Palace before gathering for a delicious Welcome Dinner prepared with local specialties.

Day 2: Witaszyce Palace Cooking Class
Location: Tłokinia Kościelna, Poland
Accommodations: Tłokinia Palace
After a delicious breakfast, today we'll get to experience the culture of Witaszyce Palace with a cooking class! We'll get to learn the secrets of making delicious local dishes like roast duck with red cabbage and yeast dumplings. And while we feast on the food we helped make, we'll get a special performance by the folk group “Snutki”. Then, we'll get a private tour of the Witaszyce Palace Hotel from the owner. Next, we'll make a stop in Pleszew to explore the Bakery Museum and learn how to make bread rolls. After that, we'll visit the artisan Teso Fruit Juice Press Company for a private tasting. Finally, we'll end the day at the “Noce i Dnie” restaurant for some delicious regional cuisine of Greater Poland. Smacznego!

Day 3: Tour Gniezno First Capital Of Poland
Location: Tłokinia Kościelna, Poland
Accommodations: Tłokinia Palace
Today, we'll embark on an exciting journey to explore some of the most important sites in Polish history! After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we'll head to Gniezno, the first capital of Poland. At the Gniezno Cathedral, we can admire the famous Gniezno doors, which feature carvings of the life and teachings of Saint Adalbert, the patron saint of Europe. We can also view the relics of the saint, before strolling around the Gniezno Old Market Square. Then we'll journey to Kalisz, the oldest Polish city. As we explore the Market Square, we'll visit Saint Joseph Basilica, one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in Poland. We'll also make a stop at a small confectionary company, to sample their traditional “Andruty Kaliskie” wafers. Finally, we'll make a visit to Kalisz Brewery to enjoy a beer tasting. To end the day, we'll have a relaxing barbecue at Tlokinia Palace in the picturesque Greater Poland countryside.

Day 4: Ostrzeszów Cooking Class, Kazimierzowska Tower
Location: Poznan, Poland

This morning, we'll continue our adventure by heading to Ostrzeszów for a cooking class, where we get to prepare the famous local dish 'Gesi Pipek'! From there, we'll head to the Kazimierzowska Tower to take in the stunning views of the countryside. We then move on to Potasnia, a small village close by, where we visited a family-run artisan smoked meats maker and got to sample their delicious Zlotnicka pork. Afterward, we'll stopp in Antonin to tour the hunting lodge that was once visited by Fryderyk Chopin, and then to Dobrzyca Palace where we'll get to see the biggest library of free masonry in Middle-East Europe. As the day draws to a close, we'll head back to Poznan. For dinner on your own, we recommend Gospoda Poznanska or Nowa Bazanciarnia, which are popular with foodies from all around the world.

Day 5: Wargowo Village & Cooking Class
Location: Poznan, Poland
Accommodations: Hotel Kolegiacki
Today we get to explore the beautiful Wargowo village and its agrotourism farm, Gryszczeniówka! We'll have the unique opportunity to learn how to make pierogi, a local specialty, and taste some of the homemade jams and marmalades made by the family that owns the farm. Afterward, we'll make our way to Prusim to visit the Olandia open-air museum, where we can explore the Dutch settlement's influence on the agriculture of Greater Poland between the 16th and 18th centuries. Then, we'll take a trip to the Winarium, which has over 80 different wines from around the world! On the way back to Poznan, we'll make a pit stop at the Jaskowa Zagroda restaurant to try pyry z gzikiem, a local delicacy. To cap off the day, we'll dine at Monidlo Restaurant in the evening, which is renowned for its delicious cuisine!

Day 6: Tour of Poznan
Location: Poznan, Poland
Accommodations: Hotel Kolegiacki
After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, we'll venture out to explore Poznan's history at the Display of Old Poznan and the Museum of the Struggle for Independence. We may even learn how to make the famous St. Martin croissants at the Croissant Museum! Following lunch, we'll visit the Emperor's Castle and take in the stunning interior. Then, we'll end our day at the world-renowned Old Brewery, where we can take a tour of the Blow Up Hotel which is considered to be one of the most innovative hotels in Europe. Why not do some shopping at the nearby Alma grocery store? To top off our day, we'll enjoy a farewell dinner at the Ratuszova restaurant, located in the heart of Poznan's Market Square, and savour some delicious Polish and regional specialties.

Day 7: Departure for Home

Location: Poznan, Poland
After an unforgettable week in Poznan, it's time to head home - but why not stay an extra night and make the most of your getaway? The Kolegiacki Hotel is the perfect place to enjoy the city and its charming atmosphere for a little bit longer. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then head back home feeling refreshed and relaxed!
